Profile
Joseph Gillis Jr, 1/25/2007
I have lived in Bridgewater, MA since 1994. With my wife Linda, we have a daughter Kerrin and son Matthew - both in the Bridgewater-Raynham School Systems.
I was born and raised in Rhode Island, and have lived in Connecticut (there has to be a joke somewhere there - heck, they couldn't even keep their hockey team.)
I have been involved with technology for over twenty years, in many roles including Technical Support Analyst, Programmer, Systems Analyst, Project Manager, and Director.  I have been part of the technology cycle, which has gone from the 1980's and all data being centrally controlled through the 90's and the explosion of Apple Mac's and Personal Computers with the data and programs at everyone's desk, almost back full cycle in the 2000's with computers running internet-based programs accessing centrally stored data once again.

Through the years, I have been involved in many community groups.  While living in Easton MA, I served on the Board for the Friends of the Library - one year as President and two more as Treasurer.  Many in Bridgewater may remember my work as Chair of the Bridgewater 4th of July Committee for two years (and one as co-Treasurer).  Presently, I am in the third year as an appointee of the MA Department of Education to the Advisory Council on Gifted & Talented Education.
I have been a volunteer for Junior Achievement, a judge for the MA High School Academic Decathlon, and was a member of the 2006 MCAS Mathematics Standard Setting Panel.

I have served the communities of Bridgewater and Raynham for nearly three years as their elected representative to the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School Committee.  While on the School Committee, I have been appointed to a number of sub-committees and roles, some of which are listed below:
* Negotiations Team = reposnsible for collective bargaining agreements
* Budget Team = responsible for budgets and finance
* Special Situations = discussions of unique nature, i.e. Berkley Schools
* Town Liaision = represent B-R before Selectmen and other Boards
* New High School Building = represent Committee in disucssions
* New High School Building Technology = advise on technology matters
