As today is Valentine's Day, and often a special day with the exchange of flowers, chocolates and jewelry, it got me thinking about a story I read a couple of weeks back.
There is a pending settlement in a Proposed Class Action, where there may be restitution paid to people who purchased diamonds and diamond jewelry between January 1, 1994 and March 31, 2006. And yes, I did write a twelve-year timeframe. The proposed settlement would pay out $295M to settle the claims, with up to 25% plus costs to the attorneys. (No, I am not going to get into a discussion today about how absurd it is that the attorneys are looking to receive $75M - although that is maddening.)
