| February 14, Community Preservation Committee forum on Municipal Buildings The Community Preservation Committee, along with consultants from Newport Collaborative Architects, has scheduled a forum at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, in the Academy Building to discuss uses and restoration for four municipal buildings in the central business district. The buildings include the old McElwain School, the Memorial Building, the Town Hall and the Academy Building. The consultants from NCA have already met with town department managers, and local boards and committees to discuss their meeting and space needs. Now it's time for the public to offer their opinions. "Resident feedback will play a critical role in determining how our central business district takes shape," said Community Preservation Commission chairwoman Marilee Hunt. Light snacks and crafts activities will be provided to keep children busy while parents participate. |
