| January 10, Governor Patrick proposes to give tuition break for illegals According to WBZ and AP, “Governor Deval Patrick says he's researching whether he can take unilateral action to allow illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at state colleges. Patrick, who has long supported the idea, says his legal team is looking into whether the change can be made without approval from the Legislature.” With all of the problems facing the State financially and budget struggles across the 351 communities of the Commonwealth, what is the logic to this? Why should there be any reward for a person who has broken the law? I remember campaign promises about how there would be property tax relief and that under Patrick’s leadership schools would no longer need to charge user & sports activity fees. Myself and the rest of the School Committee are still awaiting word from the State House of increased local aid and increased funding to support PreK-12 education. But instead of money going back to the cities and towns, funds will need to be allocated to subsidize illegal aliens in Massachusetts. Thank you Governor Cadillac. |
