| December 19, Written Legal Opinion now from Bridgewater on legality of ballot de-Reg vote Bridgewater Selectmen Dennis Gallagher, liaison from the Selectmen to B-R, came before the School Committee last night at the regularly scheduled meeting. He read parts of a letter from Bridgewater's Town Consel, which agreed with the position taken by B-R's Counsel, that the appropriate legal process for a de-Regionalization vote would be at Town Meeting or Special Town Meeting. {Click here to download the letter} For many of the same reasons that I raised at the November 13th Special Town Meeting, now attorneys from both sides concur -- the Agreement is a legal document that stipulates a process. The Agreement was signed by both parties, thereby formally documenting the process. Just because a particular Selectmen wishes it to be different, does not make the process different. |
