| December 14, Pondering the 3-2 vote by Bridgewater Selectmen to study de-Regionalizing B-R Tuesday's (12/11/07) Bridgewater Board of Selectmen's Meeting featured the return of Herb Lemon and a last-minute addition to the agenda -- to revote the prior no-decision on the Selectmen's desire to study de-Regionalizing all of Bridgewater-Raynham Schools. Herb Lemon voted with Mark Oliari and Stan Kravitz in favor of forming a study committee (another school study; Mark Oliari served on the one in 2005 -- but he did not like the recommendations from that one) with preliminary reports due March 1st. Interestingly, the study is to review all PreK-12 grades; not just the PreK-8 grades that were previously under consideration. There is an axiom that holds, for well just about everything --- cheap, fast, accurate : you can do two, but NEVER three. So, we know the study will be cheap relying on volunteer labor. So in a condensed timeframe, we know the second is fast. That means accuracy will not be guaranteed. What is the purpose of a study when the accuracy and completeness of analysis will suffer? |
