Two quick things...
(a) Mark Oliari was a no-show to the scheduled debate Monday night. BTV cable did a great job of setting up for a debate the day after a major production at the cable studios (Annual Lions Club Charity Auction). Mark never showed up or called to explain his absence.
(b) Excerpt of an email from someone concerning the question of de-Regionalization:
I was on the fence about the proposed deregionalization issue until I saw your appearances on cable tv and was able to view some of the past studies on the topic that you referenced. It seems to me that this proposal will cost more money and reduce the educational quality of the students.
I am suprised that we would have 3 selectman vote to put this on the ballot and support this proposal without ever commissioning a new study or simply reading the past studies that conclude that the proposal would add $1.3-$2 million to our current structural deficit and would not improve the quality of education for our kids.
What clinched my opposition to the issue was the fact that selectmans Oliari and Kravitz have not made one statement, presentation, or demonstration to the newspapers, citizens, or community forums to produce the facts and numbers that de-regionalization will save money. And yesterday, Oliari does not show up for a scheduled debate with you on the matter. That to me speaks volumes about his ability (or lack) to support his position.
