September 13, Bridgewater Selectmen and another PR stunt

At yesterday afternoon's Bridgewater Selectmen Meeting, Mark Oliari made a motion to send a letter to Bridgewater-Raynham Schools asking for $500,000.  The vote was unanimous by the Board.
As quoted in the Taunton Gazette this morning:
The board did agree to send a letter to the school district requesting the return of $500,000 to the town. But the request would likely receive little support from the school committee.
“They can send a letter for anything they want,” said School Committee member Joseph Gillis Jr. “It’s a PR move by one of the selectmen.”

This is merely an attempt to deflect attention away from some of the issues that should be reviewed:
(a) What the Town is going to do in the current fiscal year?
(b) What are the plans for revenue/expense in the future?  Their own commissioned 3-year plan detailed the major imbalance moving forward.
(c) Why genuflect that the College gave a $50k gift, and then play hard with the local school district?  Wasn't the Fire Chief quoted as having nine runs to the College in the first days of school?  Isn't there a cost for those services that should be recovered by the Town?
(d) Were the Selectmen serious about having a Saturday Town Meeting? Did they truly discuss October 6th - part of the 3-day Columbus long weekend that marks the end of summer and has many residents on vacation?
