Board Meeting 9/12, 4pm

Announced late in the day, the Bridgewater Board of Selectmen have called for an unusual Wednesday afternoon meeting at 4pm, at their offices. As of this writing, no agenda has yet been posted on-line.
I would anticipate a short meeting, perhaps to offer comments on the Prop 2 1/2 ballot that failed on Saturday, but more importantly to call for a Special Town Meeting to set the Town's budget. My guess is that we will see a Special Town Meeting on Thursday September 27th or Monday October 1st. The Town must have a balanced budget (currently, it is out of balanace) in order to set tax rates and send out the fall tax bills. Thus, the rush to resolve an unbalanced budget.
It will be interesting to see if the department cuts previously discussed will be the ultimate proposal put forth by the Bridgewater Selectmen. I expect the Selectmen to 'recognize' certain one-time cash, thus minimizing the total dollar of budget line-item cuts. Stay tuned...
