July 30, Bridgewater and Raynham Special Town Meetings related to Bridgewater-Raynham Schools

Tonight at 6:30 in Bridgewater, and 7:00 in Raynham, residents addressed school funding issues.  In Raynham, Town Meeting passed a couple of articles with either/or provisions to address however Bridgewater voted tonight at its Town Meeting.
In Bridgewater, a Town Meeting like I have never witnessed before unfolded before more than 2000 citizens.  There were delays in checking all of the voters in, delays as people were moved to additional facilites, finally the meeting was opened.  An immediate motion by Selectmen Mark Oliari to dispense with discussion and goto a secret ballot was made.  After a standing count of 1794 to 368, the article was then to be voted upon.
At about 10:30, the article passed by a ballot count of 1082 to 1006.
This vote by the two towns demonstrates a commitment to the continued education by Bridgewater-Raynham for about 6000 students; a full day of education and specials (foreign language, art, music) for all students.
