| June 21, Next steps after last night's Bridgewater-Raynham School Committee A well-attended meeting last night at Raynham Middle School was held last night. Many elected leaders and citizens were heard from on the current state of Bridgewater-Raynham, and next steps. Highlights are as follows: (1) Re-vote of B-R Budget, in the amount of $55,741,990 - after taking into account updates on State Aid funds, reduction in planned revenue from School Choice, and other minor adjustments. Assessments to be certified and provided to the town of Bridgewater ($19,498,849) and Raynham ($12,319,189). Local Boards of Selectmen will need to consider whether to schedule Town Meetings to address the requests. (2) Announcement and support of potential Special District-wide Meeting by the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School Committee. This option is available to regional school districts, pursuant to MGL 71 S16B. (3) Reductions in staff and change in hours for upcoming year. As previously forecast, 69 positions were announced to be eliminated: 31 Educational Assistants K-1, 4 positions at LaLibertie/Merrill, 7 positions at Mitchell, 14 positions at Williams, 11 at Raynham Middle, 1 at Burnell and 1 at High School. Also for grades K-8 there will be a delayed school opening time. |
