You can do something!
January 17, Raynham to rescind vote on grant for paid school volunteer and vote to hire person

The Raynham Board of Selectmen have voted to place an Article on the upcoming Special Town Meeting to: (a) rescind the vote to grant money to stipend a paid school volunteer position; (b) ask for a new vote to transfer the money so that a person would be hired by the town and under the supervision of the Town Administrator.
I believe that this is a prudent approach, and in many ways no different than the method of funding for School Resource Officers as part of police budgets.  I had previously suggested that if Raynham want to pay for a person in this role, that they create the funding under Park & Recreation, as that group already deals with children.  This new approach also seems reasonable.
The role of a paid volunteer position was not a priority of the B-R School Committee.  Further, I was not in favor of creating a role that would only benefit one of the two communities.  Many other members of the B-R School Committee also felt this way, as evidenced by the previous votes taken.
