| December 13, Bridgewater-Raynham and Berkley schools discussions
The Enterpise this evening had a story about the continuing discussions between the Bridgewater-Raynham School Committee and the Berkley School Committee. There have been a few meetings to discuss various possibilities. The most recent meeting included Jeff Wulfson from the MA Department of Education to provide a perspective from the State on the process of possibly expanding the school region. It should be stressed that the discussions have all been VERY PRELIMINARY. From the Berkley perspective, they have a tuition agreement in place, but are interested in exploring options to avoid further tuition arrangements. From B-R, we have a new high school set to open shortly and would entertain most any discussion to determine if it would be good for education, the students and the community. These discussions will continue, and the B-R School Committee will continue to explore any and all options for the good of the District. As a reminder, B-R's participation in School Choice began this year with a trial run of thirty students - another example of researching and implementing programs to improve education in the community while balancing the financial realities. |
