| November 2, The MTA (Massachusets Teachers Association) helping out
Reported in today's papers are the latest estimates for the amount of money spent by the teachers in support of Deval Patrick. $2,260,000 spent to-date in an effort to influence the Governor election. To help put this into perspective, and this is important since we forever hear of how teachers must buy their own supplies... At 73,593 teachers: $30.71 per teacher; at 972,371 students: $2.32 per child The number of teachers and students is direct from the Dept of Education wesbite report. One other note from that report... 13.2 students/teacher across the State. That number Deval Patrick had trouble with at last night's debate. Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey did not make it up... the number was calculated and published by the Department of Education. Perhaps the MTA can help Deval pay for an internet connection so he can research the facts before criticizing them. Or, maybe Deval did not believe the number before he believed it! |
