| September 15, Update on Paid Volunteer Coordinators from School Comm Meeting
At Wedenesday's meeting, updated materials and a new presentation were made concerning volunteers in the School District. Pat Riley provided documents prior to the meeting as her report that continued to call for a Paid Volunteer Coordinator for Raynham/RAVE Coordinator, and a Paid Volunteer Coordinator for Bridgewater. This was after the feedback provided a couple weeks ago at the last School Comm. Meeting, requesting that no formal mention be made of RAVE. RAVE is a separate non-profit organization. Myself and others do not believe it appropriate to fund a position within another organization. Further, while Pat Riley sits as the current President of that organization, the entire B-R School Committee is put into a difficult position as far as how to deal with the repeated requests for funding. Beyond the legal issues are those of priorities. To fund two Paid Volunteer Coordinator positions while the High School is still on probation, while we have middle school needs, and a need for someone on a district level to service all of our technology, these Paid Volunteer positions do not even make it onto my own list. |
