You can do something!
July 25, Bridgewater Board of Selectmen vote to curtail liquor establishment hours

The process began with Selectmen Chair Herb Lemon stating that "It is the public need to decrease the hours... from 2am to 1am effective at 1am on September 6th, 2006".
Dennis Gallagher stated his belief that the town should "take a hard stand against those that violate, and think that we (the Board) have".  He made a motion to exclude Friday and Staturday evenings from the previous motion. There was not a second to the motion, so it failed.
Stan Kravitz explained how this has been a difficult time, and how he has appreciated the comments and ideas brought forward, especially comments the previous week by Mel Shea and Joe Gillis.  He believes this solution is a piece of a puzzle, and that there is a need to try something.
Marybeth Lawton believes that the concern for the sixteen effected needs to be balanced against the public good.  Further, that to allow the extra hour only exacerbates the problems.
Utimately, the Board voted 3 to 1 (Mark Oliari abstained & out of town) to enact the motion.

This is all unfortunate.  My hope was that the Board of Selectmen would approach this in a logical fashion. That they would allow each effected party the opportunity to make their case - to say, show and prove why they are acting responsibly in the community, operating safely and should not be punished for the mistake of another.
