| May 18, Bridgewater Selectmen & Advisory Board release compromise budget
The full report(s) is available on the Town website. Of particular interest to many is the line item for Bridgewater-Raynham Schools. The proposed budget includes $16,768,186 for B-R and $1,764,533 for B-R debt service. The $16.7M item includes funds to cover the $88,620 payment for modulars at the high school. Also, the MA Senate Ways & Means Committee released its full budget proposal. Much has been said of the increase in Chapter 70 funds; however this proposal reduced Chapter 71 Regional Transportation from the House Final Budget numbers. {Click here to link to MA DLS site for Cherry Sheets} After calculating (by myself, not official to the B-R District – in other words, my own personal estimates not yet verified) through all of the increases and decreases, the B-R District will be short $863,858 from the “Effective & Efficient” budget proposal. Further, and because this question often comes up, it is my estimation that the resulting income will be short by $44,697 when compared to the B-R “Level-Services” budget. Lastly, because the Raynham and Bridgewater Town Meeting appropriations are mathematically linked, since Bridgewater is proposing an amount less than the request, there would be a resulting ‘return’ of $412,582 to Raynham as an over-appropriation. Again, it is important to stress that these are my personal working numbers, and are not official to the B-R District. I work through these numbers just like many on the Town boards do. I am only utilizing public documents in the creation of these analyses. |
