May 16, Upcoming Lemonade Stand to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand For Pediatric Cancer Research

On Sunday June 11th, 10am-3pm, at Roche Bros Supermarkets in Bridgewater, there will be a Lemonade Stand to benefit Pediatric Cancer Research.  This national event grew out of Alex's front yard lemonade stand and is held over the same June weekend as Alex's original frontyard stand. During Lemonade Days, dedicated volunteers like you will host thousands of Alex's Lemonade Stands across the country -- all to help fight childhood cancer, one cup at a time.
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation was founded by a young cancer patient by the name of Alexandra Scott. Two days before her 1st birthday, Alex was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of childhood cancer. In 2000 when Alex was just four years old, she told her parents that she wanted to have a lemonade stand in her front yard. She surprised everyone when she announced her plan to donate the money from her stand to "her hospital" to held doctors find a cure for all kids with cancer. Every year since, Alex has held a lemonade stand to benefit childhood cancer research.
Alex's courageous battle with cancer and her determination to help all kids with cancer has inspired others to help her cause. Donations have poured in from around the world and as of January 2006 Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised almost $5 million for childhood cancer research.
Beautiful, spirited Alex passed away on August 1, 2004 at the age of 8. Her boundless optimism and commitment to helping other children will continue in her honor through her foundation.
