April 11, Comparison of Governor's Budget to House Ways & Means for Chapter 70 Funding

With yesterday's release of the House Ways & Means Budget proposal, it seemed an appropriate time to compare the amount of money allocated to school districts in the form of Chapter 70 Aid.  While many complained that the Governor's Budget proposal did not do enough to assist communities struggling with educational costs, the House proposal slashes the funding.
In fact, while 48 communities see modest increases from the Governor's Proposal, 325 communities would see less with the House Ways & Means proposal.  Overall, the House proposal reduces the Governor's proposal by $72 million.  I wonder who really is committed to education?
