| September 23, Fairness for Good Drivers
Over the past couple of days, a number of television commercials have run that speak to concern about fairness in setting auto insurance rates in the State. The website is www.FairnessForGoodDrivers.com – and I encourage you to take a look. An upcoming tour by our State Legislature will kick off in Worcester next Tuesday (9/27), then move to Lawrence on Oct. 3, Southwick on Oct. 11, Springfield on Oct. 12, and Cape Cod on Oct. 20. The Financial Services Committee is expected to hold hearings on auto insurance on Oct. 18 and 25 and Nov. 1 and 15. If you have concerns or issues to be heard, I encourage you to attend these sessions and to contact your legislators – in Bridgewater and Raynham MA they are Rep. David Flynn and Sen. Mark Pacheco at the State House. On the website, you can find a report on the subsidy amounts per vehicle in all communities of Massachusetts. For 2005, Bridgewater provided $67.96, Easton $75.10, East Bridgewater $75.20, Raynham $75.20 and West Bridgewater $54.61 per insured vehicle. This so that other communities would have lower standard package rates. Some communities and their subsidies: Brockton $392.02, Everett $392.02, Milton $15.11, Randolph $392.02, Stoughton $15.11 and Roxbury $1612.54 per insured vehicle. |
