June 27, Update on House Bill 4095 (see also June 16th story) - Special Legislation to pay for B-R Mods

As I guessed in my earlier story (June 16, 2005), this bill has been directed to the House Steering, Policy & Scheduling Committee.  As of this writing, it is unclear how long it will be in this Committee prior to their taking action.  In most cases, bills move within a couple of weeks out of Committee and to the Legislature for a vote.
Of special note is the fact that the legislation is for up to $265,000 to be withdrawn from the Capital Projects Fund for payment of modulars and leases by the Bridgewater-Raynham School District.  This dollar amount would pay for the assessment for 2004-05 fiscal (school) year.  However, contrary to a statement made by a Bridgewater Selectman at a prior meeting (April 25, 2005, Meeting of B-R and Bridgewater & Raynham Selectmen), there is nothing in this legislation that would also fund payments for 2005-06.  Therefore, there is a question about where the funding will come from for the $159,180 in pro-rated Modular Rental Costs.  As things currently stand, this would be paid as part of the $16,099,760 voted at the June 13, 2005 Annual Town Meeting.
