June 26, Letter from Rep. David Flynn to B-R School Committee concerning Joint Town Meeting

  On June 20th, Rep. David Flynn (8th Plymouth) sent a letter to the Chair of B-R School Committee and the Committee.  The whole letter is available by clicking here, however the beginning tells the story:

  "I write today to you, your committee, and the friends of our regional school district in both towns to urge that there not be a joint town meeting and that there not be an override on the pending BR Budget.
   "Great progress has been made on this budget to the point where we can say today that there will be no layoffs and there will be job restorations and program restorations in the year ahead. 
   "This progress has come at no small costs to the Town of Bridgewater.  Although there is still a shortfall in the Bridgewater portion of the budget funding, the amount recently allocated by Bridgewater means that essential services in that community cannot be met and maintained at the present level.  There will be layoffs and jobs lost. There will be programs curtailed and ended.   ... "
