| June 16, Update on $265k from Bridgewater's (Prison) Captial Projects Fund to B-R for modulars
At a Special Town Meeting July 13, 2004, Bridgewater voted to request legislation to allow for the withdrawal of up to $265,000 from the Capital Projects Fund (money set aside because of the Prison). It was planned that this money would be used to pay for Bridgewater's share of modular costs at the High School, modulars at the Williams School, and Parish Center rental costs. This legislation request was not addressesd during the last Legislative cycle (2003-2004), and becuase of its status as a 'late file bill', there was not a requirement for it to be considered. For the current Legislative cycle (2005-2006), this was a normal bill, and is now making its way through the process. It is House Bill 4095, submitted December 15, 2004, by Rep. David Flynn, relating to Bridgewater Captial Projects Fund. On June 10, 2005, it was referred to the Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government by both the House and Senate. A Public Hearing was held yesterday (June 15), and this bill was "Reported favorably by Joint Committee on Municipalities and Regional Government". I believe that the next step [I will update upon confirmation] is the House Committee on Steering, Policy and Scheduling. The other option is for the bill to be called for a "Third Reading". There are still many formal steps required in the process. However, it is encouraging (financially) to Bridgewater that this bill is progressing through the MA House and Senate Legislative process. |
