| June 8, Surprise announcement by B-R Chair Don DeLutis concerning the Joint Town Meeting
Don DeLutis, in a surprise announcement before the Bridgewater Board of Selectmen last night (6/7/2005), announced that the scheduled June 22 Joint B-R School Town Meeting has been cancelled or delayed. I am very concerned that as an elected School Committee Member, I learned of a change by way of an announcement at the Bridgewater Board of Selectmen Meeting. While I am often criticized for the what I say at open B-R School Board Meetings, who made a decision to negate a vote at the May 25 B-R School Committee? There has not been a meeting of the B-R School Board called, nor was there even a phone call to inform an elected member of the B-R School Committee of this change. By what authority did Chair Donald DeLutis and Superintendent Robert McIntyre present an opinion different from that which was voted upon on May 25th (with myself as the lone dissenter)? It is actions like this that are the cause for a lack of confidence in the current B-R School Committee and Administration - making an announcement to the public without an open School Committee Meeting to discuss and re-vote. |
