May 14, Latest figures from MA Dept of Revenue include increases in school funding

The Massachusetts Department of Revenue released updated projections for school funding earlier this week. The revised version is based on the House proposal for amount of Chapter 70 (schools) and Chapter 71 (Transportation) funding.  The increase amounts to a little over $400 thousand ($404,278) that is estimated to be sent to the Bridgewater-Raynham School District.
Please take a look at the Official State information here
http://www.dls.state.ma.us/CHERRY/index.htm

The net effect of these additional funds is a slight decrease in "Required Net School Spending (NSS)" and a little larger decrease in "Total Requested without Debt" for each Town.
{Click here for my spreadsheet} Keep in mind that these numbers are MY PROJECTIONS.  As of yesterday, I know the B-R Administration has seen the numbers from the State, but I am not aware of any publication by them to recalculate.
   In summary:
Bridgewater's Required NSS decreased from $14,685,738 to $14,591,058.
Bridgewater's Total Request (without Debt) decreased from $17,814,451 to $17,556,926.
Raynham's Required NSS decreased from $9,154,389 to $9,100,434.
Raynham's Total Request (without Debt) decreased from $10,937,313 to $10,790,560.

Again, let me stress that these are my estimates.  The increase in Regional Transportation (CH.71) will decrease the Required NSS.  The increase in CH.70 will decrease the total amount needed from the two communities, and thus reduces each Town's Total Request amount.
