| November 17, B-R Superintendent speaking on additional funds
Bridgewater-Raynham School Superintendent also spoke to the Bridgewater Selectmen about a couple of other interesting topics: (a) He stressed the importance of the School and Town annual budgets; that they must work together because once the budget is set these is no chance for additional funds to go from the Town to the School District. However, moments later, he made an appeal for the Bridgewater Board of Selectmen to give consideration to "gifting" additional funds to the School District from some of the $340k Bridgewater recently received from the State. This appears to be a situation where more money is requested after the budgets have been approved; and we are all well aware of the prior "gifting" of $520k from Bridgewater to B-R School District. So, doesn't this "gifting" of money negate his primary argument about the School District not being able to obtain more funds from the Towns? (b) Bob made a point of stressing the the Selectmen that the School budgets should be available for review around Christmas or the New Year. I find that intriguing since it is now November 17th, and the School Committee's Budget Group has yet to begin its work. I have not even been able to get a meeting called, even after repeated attempts at a full B-R School Comm Meeting and in conversations with the Superintendent. |
