| November 3, Election Day is over
George Bush was re-elected President. Across the country, Republicans gained key elected positions - including the upset victory over Minority Leader Daschle. However, Massachusetts is still primarily a Democrat state - all 10 US Congressional seats are held by the Democrats, and 34/40 MA Senate & 139/160 MA House Rep's are Democrat. Probably the most impressive victory in MA for Republicans was in the race for Plymouth County Sheriff, where incumbent (D) Joe McDonough was beaten by (R) Joe McDonald in a very tight race - about one thousand votes as the margin of victory. To all candidates, whether you were victorious in your mission or not, you all deserve congratulations for putting yourself on the line and on the ballot to give the voters choices. The election process, and the ability of Americans to choose are leaders is what makes this country great. |
