| September 24, FAO Schwarz Bear to get new home At a press conference earlier this evening, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino announced that the bear would be relocated to the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts - New England Medical Center. It will be placed at the entrance to the hospital, on Washington Street. The decision concludes a lengthy process in which children were invited to suggest new locations for the bear. Thousands of letters, emails and telephone suggestions were received. From all the the submissions, the Franklin Park Zoo and Children's Hospital were the other two possible new locations. The statue is recognized as a gift to the children of Boston. A party is planned for the bear once it arrives at its new home. |
