| June 22, Ever increasing property taxes Bridgewater's current tax rate of $11.33 per thousand will be increasing no matter what the result is of the Special Election for an Override. It was discussed at last night's meeting that due to bond debt service for the Mitchell School and land purchase, the tax rate will increase by $0.20/k for a 20-year declining debt bond. Add to that, the expected $0.33/k increase in taxes (the increase was $0.34/k last year). Finally, the override is set for $1.16/k. So, for a $300k house, this year's $11.33/k is $3,399. Next fiscal year, if these all hit, the tax bill would be $3,906. And that first bill will arrive in November 2004. |
