| June 8, What does the average B-R teacher get paid? The Mass Dept. of Education has the salary figures on their website, and the spreadsheet was just updated on 5/21/04. So, if as some claim, the figures are wrong, why have they not been corrected? And also, since these numbers are claimed to be in error, then perhaps we are not below state average in student spending and are above the average. One cannot dispute one set of calculations without calling into question all other calculations. DOE for FY2003 BR pd $19,894,448 for 305.9 FTE teachers, avg = $65,036 Whitman-Hanson pd $15,626,804 for 307 teachers, avg = $50,902 If BR were to hire back entry teachers; more than were lost 94.1 teachers, at $35k (may be low) = $3,293,500 the total cost of all teachers = $23,187,948 and the average of all 400 would still be $57,970 ($6,155 more than state average) So much for the argument that our average is high because we let some teachers go. |
