| May 31, Public Forums at B-R School Committee Meetings As previously stated, I did bring this subject up at the May 26 School Comm. Meeting. After a short discussion, it was agreed to discuss further at the next School Comm. Meeting on June 16th. While many nights no one from the audience requests time to speak, this may in part be related to the Public Forum occuring at the end of the meeting - 9:30 or 10pm. I believe that the School Committee should encourage involvement and feedback from the community, and one way to help accomplish this is to create a place for the dialogue to occur. Rather than a negative, I believe this to be a positive - allowing an individual to inform us of his/her concern in a few minutes early in the meeting. The School Comm. can address the issue in more detail later in the meeting, place the item on an upcoming agenda, or merely listen to the comments being offered. |
