| January 15, I have taken out Nomination Papers for B-R Regional School Committee Earlier today, I obtained Nomination Papers from the Town Clerk's Office, formalizing my commitment to fill the open seat (Tim Fitgibbons previously announced he will not seek re-election) on the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District School Committee. I believe that my analytical ability and my creativity will be important skills and assets to the B-R Regional District in the coming years. There are many important issues that need to be addressed, such as MCAS graduation rates, a number of school building projects, and of course a budget. The budget process this coming year will be especialy difficult as the two communities are in much different financial situations. There is a need to maintain the educational component, at the same time balancing the finacial costs required. We should be looking to draw on the successes of school systems outside of our own, learning to modify what worked to fit our situation. There are many great programs that have been executed across the country, and we need to learn from them, and ultimately enjoy the same successes. |
